This political cartoon features two men observing a "Haven't You Had Enough? Vote Republican" billboard. One man exclaims, "Yes, we had enough under Hoover." Herbert Hoover, a Republican, served as U.S. president during the onset of the Great Depression. At the bottom of the cartoon a note from the editor reads: "The Republicans are Placing Signs Like this Billboard Above All Over the State of West Virginia. Democrats, Do Not Let These Signs Influence You! We Say Unto You, 'Watch!'" -

“Woman to the Rescue” political cartoon
The “Woman to the Rescue” cartoon, which originally appeared in Volume 12, No. 1 of the NAACP magazine The Crisis, was sent to Senator Sutherland by a constituent. A constituent sent the cartoon to Senator Sutherland and wrote: “Making the world safe for democracy!” and “Our Hohenzollern []! Save their women of the south!” The typed quotes about Jane Addams, Susan B. Anthony, and “Thinking men shudder...” did not appear on the original. -
