About

For the Dignity of Man and the Destiny of Democracy: The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is a digital version of an exhibit that was on display in the WVU Downtown Campus Library’s Rockefeller Gallery. It was curated by West Virginia & Regional History Center Assistant Curator, Congressional and Political Papers Archivist, Danielle Emerling.  The original exhibit was prepared and installed with assistance from Ashley Brooker, Lemley Mullet, and Graduate Assistant Lydia Strickling.

Materials in the exhibit come from the following:

Arch A. Moore Jr. congressional papers, West Virginia & Regional History Center

West Virginia & Regional History Center newspaper collection (some newspapers available at Chronicling America)

Center for Legislative Archives, NARA, featured in the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress' The Great Society Congress exhibit
